“Nobody is so poor that he or she could not give anything to the other person. And it does not concern material aid only, often it is more important to hear somebody, to give some advice, admonition, offer a prayer or just a smile.” That fragment of His Eminence the Cardinal Franciszek Macharski’s homily will probably be remembered best by the participants of a yearly pilgrimage of our Society to St. Brother Albert and Blessed Sister Bernardine’s Sanctuary “Ecce Homo” in Cracow.
On Saturday, 10 June, it drew particularly great number of members of the Society’s community – 1400 people arrived, among whom 765 were those using its help. Pilgrims from 39 circles came. For the first time the pilgrimage attracted participants of EQUAL Community Initiative Programme (IW Equal) and its project “Wyprowadzić na prostą” – 94 beneficiaries and 19 accompanying people. The other numerous group of pilgrims was a group from Jarosław – 91 people. Some groups had also visited other sanctuaries before. His Eminence the Cardinal Franciszek Macharski celebrated the Holy Mass accompanied by 12 priests, ministering to the Society’s institutions. After the Holy Mass there was a common meal prepared by the Albertine nuns. In the church vaults one could watch a film and exhibition concerning St. Brother Albert. There was also a short concert of religious songs performed by a children’s choir from orphanage in Stalowa Wola as well as the performance by female duet from Kąkolewnica. The meeting closed with Divine Mercy service and kissing the relics of St. Brother Albert. |
