Face painting, dancing, competitions and other attractions were part of the festivities for children in Single Mother’s House in Poniatowa near Lublin.
On 2 July, the Lublin Circle organized the festivities for children from the Single Mother’s House and from Poniatowa. Co-organizers were Polskie Stowarzyszenie Pedagogów i Animatorów „KLANZA” (Polish Association of Teachers and Children’s Animators „KLANZA”) and Family Support Society – educational and prevention community centre. After some organizational difficulties, the festivities started punctually at 11 o’clock. Children waited impatiently for the attractions prepared by their minders. Jadwiga Kustra, manager of the community centre, said a few words, welcoming guests and the most important ones this day – children. Among the guests were, for example: Director of the Social Policy Department of the Lublin Voivodship Office, representatives of the Poviat Centre for Family Support and Social Aid Centre in Opole Lubelskie and representatives of the Poniatowa authorities. Children from the town and nearby community centres were also invited. They were entertained by volunteers from the “KLANZA” association, headed by Wieslaw Bodo. “It’s a real joy to see happy children. All games we organized were very popular,” said one of the volunteers. Children learned juggling, plate spinning and other circus tricks, which they could later present on the stage, before the audience. The boys prepared a break-dance show and girls sang the songs. Face painting was very popular. Children with painted butterflies and flowers on their faces run merrily across the playground, carefree and happy. “So great that we can play, the games are fine and I have met new friends,” said seven-year-old Oliwia from Poniatowa, who visited the House with her mother for the first time to participate in the Children’s Day festivities. The weather was good, too. Seeing the children’s joy and smiling faces, one wishes that the Children’s Day lasted the whole year. “It was our first undertaking of this kind. We were afraid whether everything would go well, but we were fortunate,” said Małgorzata Jocek, chairwoman of the Circle of our Society. Thanks to the co-operation with local community, we could, for example, co-organize an event for the disabled children along with the “Pinokio” Association. |
