As announced, today the story of the next participant of the “Back on Track” project. I am the Beneficiary of the “Back on Track” project, implemented by the […] Circle of the St. Brother Albert’s Aid Society. I landed here by chance, thanks to my friend - I wanted to know how the PAB (Professional Insertion Centre for the Unemployed) works. Before I joined the project, I was drained, I didn’t know what to do with myself because I was homeless, unemployed and had health problems.
The PAB has become my second home where I rest, use the telephone, computer and the press, thanks to which I can easily communicate with the surrounding world. I have met here people with problems similar to mine. Adrian Nowak, the Accompanying Person, has looked after me. He helps me to overcome my difficulties and supports in editing official letters. Here I get psychological support and professional advice in different fields. The greatest problem is to find a flat. Thanks to support of Andrzej Kurek, Local Coordinator, I have an opportunity to get my own flat soon. When I try to complete any formalities, I face tardiness and indifference of the officials, who are insensitive to people’s problems. The PAB enabled me to complete the computer course and participate in motivational-educational workshops for Beneficiaries of the “Back on Track” project in Skorzeszyce/Kaczynie in 2006. Besides, I have an opportunity to take part in motivational workshops organized by the PAB. Thanks to participation in the project, I have become more outgoing, learned tolerance towards other people and improved my relationships with the group and others. We are one big family that wants to go ahead and become better and better, which is very important. Our Accompanying Persons show us what we should be like. They are well-mannered, willing to comfort and help others. I have found here much warmth, care and understanding. Participation in the project made me also feel needed, more appreciated and gave me the knowledge of how to manage with difficult life situations. I’d like to thank all the people who created and contributed to this project. |
