POMOST - “Homelessness and Health” compendium A guide for health service and welfare institutions. The main purpose of the guide is to enhance knowledge and make it easier to inform about providing homeless people with medical services. Specialists of the Pomeranian Forum in Aid of Getting Out of Homelessness recognized that one of the main problems concerning access to and provision of medical service to the homeless is lack of knowledge, flow of information and mutual co-operation between the health service sector and welfare institutions. The guide is an answer to this lack. It contains description of the main problems of homeless people with access to health benefits, as well as a diagnosis and analysis of main health problems of the homeless (research reports). Besides, it thoroughly describes the procedures and valid legal norms that we should make use of while providing homeless people with medical care. It indicates main sources of financing medical services for the homeless. It describes a detailed procedure of insuring homeless people who were not insured so far. It also contains a series of demands and recommendations, including the legal and system ones, concerning health situation of the homeless for both health service and organizations helping the homeless. Moreover, the guide contains practical information about health service institutions, procedures of conduct, scope and standards of health aid. The publication also includes an information guide about institutions for the homeless in the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
