The amendment to the Law on Financial Support for Constructing Social Housing, Protected Apartments, Nightshelters and Houses for the Homeless (Dz. U. No 251 item 1844), passed on December 8, 2006 came into force on April 1.

Three elements which have been changed are crucial from the point of view of Public Benefit Organisation:

• increasing the support by 10% (to 30,40 and 50% of costs – depending on the undertaking)
• removing the condition for land or building ownership (urban commune or intermunicipal union may also be the owner)
• including the cost of supply media and land management

The amendment was published in Dz. U. No 39 item 309 (Journal of Laws.) New legislation is to be introduced on July 31; until then current law applies.
